Recent figures from the RSPCA revealed a disturbing increase in cruelty cases:
34,401 reports of animal cruelty were received between June and August 2024 — a 33% rise from the previous summer.
In total, cruelty cases across the year climbed from 88,770 in 2023 to over 105,000 in 2024.
This spike is attributed, in part, to longer summer days when more people are outside to witness and report possible harm. It’s a stark reminder that animal welfare doesn’t take a holiday.
